Other funny thingsPosted by Juan Tue, June 08, 2010 20:34:57 Hello everybody, as you may know it is us from the band itself that take care of our websites, so it is hard to keep updated all the places sometimes, webpage, myspace, facebook, lastfm, flickr,... So we just wanted to inform you that we will be post our blog things mainly on our Facebook, and not so much here. So see you there!
NewsPosted by Juan Sat, January 09, 2010 23:27:23 Dear everybody,
first of all we want to announce that the first official music video of Valravn is on the net, it is the result of the work of Grim Film and their friends, watch "Koder på snor" at this link
Than we would like to thank everybody for this wonderful year, all our crew members (Ask and Finn on sound, Jacob on lights, Jakob roadie, Signe in the raven and Maria as guest vocalist), the venues and festivals crews, and of course all of you that were at the concerts or were there to welcome our second album "Koder på snor". This 2009 was the year of this album and everything went even better than we could imagine :-) Also the "official" reactions were great: nice reviews everywhere and we registered many parade hits and awards, among others we can name a few from the last few months:
- Best album for Cat Radio in Barcelona in November and December, second beast album of the year - Album of the week at 106FM in Tel Aviv (last week of the year) - nr. 23 on the World Music Charts Europe in December - Nominated as Best Album, Best Song (Kelling) and Best Singer (Anna Katrin) at the Planet Awards on Faroe Islands - Kelling was several weeks on the top ten on Faroe Islands
Tours brought us to Norway, Germany, Poland, France, Faroe Islands, Finland and Netherlands, Highlights were so many that it is impossible to name them all, but we will soon gather some pictures from our phones and cameras to make a 2009 album for our blogs.
We already look forward to the coming year, which we hope will be great for all of you and at least a bit better for our planet... Our spring tour will touch Denmark, Germany and Finland, German dates are already published and the others will follow soon.
About ValravnPosted by Juan Sat, October 24, 2009 18:05:15 Hello everybody!
We will soon start
touring again (check our calendar!), but in the meanwhile we would like
to share with you some videos, interviews and reviews that appeared in
the past months. We have also updated our website with for example
more reviews and all lyrics (on the media/discography section) and
other stuff: www.valravn.net
Here some of all the nice reviews of our second album "koder på snor"
"It
is an exiting CD, strongly recommended as one of the year's most
striking releases in a Danish roots scene that is now really delivering
and diversifying. The live show is mighty impressive; Egilstrød is a magnificent
vocalist, caressing, whispering and howling the songs with magnetic
command and energy, and the band has just the right balance of live
instruments and intensifying electronics, often including strong
visuals." Andrew Cronshaw, fRoots,
U.K.
"Edgy, atmospheric and deliciously fearless, Koder
på snor drags the listener by the hair on a mental journey over
sweeping forests and deep into moody waters. Transforming the traditional into the
extraordinary, Koder på snor is a stunning, headlong leap into folktronica." TJ Nelson, World Music Central, USA Read all the review here
"...Siden har
Valravn gået fra triumf til triumf og har tydeligvis vokset med
opgaven. Resultatet er denne nye plade, som ganske enkelt er
fremragende. Valravn har begået en af årets plader." ★★★★★☆ Torben Holleufer, Gaffa Read all the review in Danish here

TouringPosted by Juan Mon, August 10, 2009 01:47:39 Hello everybody,
We have been quite around all this year, getting to play at some really
nice festivals. We also passed by byLarm in Oslo and Spot in Denmark,
some showcases festivals presenting the best of the Nordic music around. We would like to share here what we thought was the most exiting stuff.
In this warm summer night I remember our visit to to Oslo last February, there was snow everywhere and we got to so 2 crazy freaky bands: Detektivbyrån If the soundtrack of "Amelie Poulin" was written by some crazy and cute Swedes it would sound something like this, concerts always very packed and a funny instrumentation driven by with vibraphone accordion. A world on itself...
22 This is the most energetic rock show I have seen ever! God it was so hot in that club in the meddle of freezing Oslo! Could the Power Rangers be punks playing prog? Don't belive me, check it out yourself!
And at Spot:
Orka this is just one of the most exiting Nordic bands right now. Self build instruments creating noisy and banging ground for amazing Nordic poetry, with some of the nicest vocals from the Faroe Islands guesting the tours. Next autumn it will be Anna Katrin from Valravn playing with them, so it is a ind of brother-band :-)
And a little note for a band we saw at Skiippagurra festival in the very North of Norway:
It was a nice tour, but a long tour in the bus, you know, Valravn is used to fly... Well, we kind of kept us up with the help of a nice machine that could play some CDs we had with, check the tour bus play list:

NewsPosted by Juan Tue, June 16, 2009 04:31:16 Dear friends,
It is with immense pleasure that we announce the end of the making of
our new album. We have been awake the last 40 hours to give the last
touch to the sound and the images of what is going to be in our hands
in a few weeks and in yours in a few months.
It ended up to be called “Koder på snor”, “Codes on strings”. It is a
reference to the strings connecting all things and beings, codified by
a universal and natural order. It is also the opening title and we are
so much looking forward to share that and the rest of the numbers with
you!
The music is almost exclusivly our own compisition, so that has been a little experiment opening a new chapter for Valravn.
We are going to have the album with us during the summer tour, but the
official release is set for September in Germany, Switzerland, Austria,
Benelux and UK with our new label Westpark Music; and in Denmark and Norway with a label to be announced.
Thanks to everybody who has given their part to this project, now we want to come out and play! So see you out there!
